So, we gathered up seven different gluten free dinner rolls to find the best gluten free rolls that don’t taste like straight up rocks or immediately dissolve in your mouth.

Best for Sopping Sauce

These gluten free dinner rolls are springy and very fluffy with a good, rich, bready flavor—thanks in part to the potato starch, I think. There’s no real crust to speak of; these are soft rolls. And they are a bit dry, so I wouldn’t eat them on their own. But warmed up in the oven for a couple of minutes and served with soup or something saucy, they will get the job done. They aren’t the best gluten free rolls, but if you’re shopping at Whole Foods, these gluten free dinner rolls will get the job done.

Cold, these gluten free dinner rolls are just fine. But warm them up and out come the toasty, oaty flavors. They’re soft with an almost muffin-y texture—a little eggy and doughy. Plus, they don’t have any of that slightly off aftertaste like many other gluten free breads. These are cozy gluten free bread rolls, good to serve with stew or mashed potatoes or some other ultra comforting meal.

I seriously love these gluten free bread rolls. Have you ever had pão de queijo—that Brazilian cheese bread you get at a churrascaria? These gluten free rolls are kinda like that. They manage to be both hefty and airy at the same time—like a giant gougère. Warmed up, they’re stretchy and chewy with a subtle cheesy flavor. While they are the best gluten free rolls we tried, that really only applies to them when they are warm. You gotta eat them before they cool down, because they will get dense and a little bit gluey. But this is such a good gluten free dinner roll, I don’t think you’ll have trouble finishing it fast.
